Are you ready to take your land monitoring skills to the next level? Join us for this hybrid course with 3 hours of virtual class time and then immersive yourself in six-days of hands-on Ecological Outcome Verification (EOV) Monitor Training. The event takes place at the stunning Deer Mountain Sanctuary, a 2000 acre regenerating ranch just north of Mt Shasta, in Montague, CA. This training is a prerequisite for becoming an Accredited EOV Monitor through the Savory Institute and offers a unique opportunity to engage in hands-on field training with Savory Field Professional and EOV Master Verifier Jackie Eshelman.
Learn to use ecological indicators to understand how our management practices impact the ecosystem and use monitoring data to make management decisions that improve ecosystem function.

Accommodation & Meals
Deer Mountain Sanctuary is a 2000-acre ranch located in the Klamath Mountains in Northern California near Mt. Shasta. The land is mountainous with varying terrain between 2800 – 3500 ft elevation and a mix of meadows, oak savannas, and mixed forest lands. The land is minutes from the Klamath River and the largest dam removal and salmon restoration projects in the world.
You will have the opportunity to stay onsite and immerse yourself in the learning and the landscape. A variety of beautiful camping options are available. There are indoor and outdoor dining options and a comfy communal Yurt with a wood stove that campers may use at night for socializing.
**Amenities include solar electricity, wifi, flushing & composting toilet, indoor & outdoor hot shower, full kitchen**
There are many beautiful camping sites available and opportunities to rent one of our cushier Glamping accommodations (includes camping gear).

**4 wheel drive required to drive up to campsites for car camping, Campsites will be available on a first come first serve basis**
Note: No Dogs are allowed and there are No RV Hookups.

Meals:
Dinner provided on the first night (June 5th) and all lunches provided (June 5th-10th)
Breakfasts and dinners (except June 5th) are family/potluck-style, using a full shared kitchen
Group meal planning session during the virtual classtime on May 30th
Certification & Next Steps

Jackie Eshelman is a Savory Institute accredited Field Professional and Educator, an EOV Master Verifier, and works on the EOV Global Quality Assurance team. She is a bonafide plant and soil nerd with a degree in Experiential Education and a passion for connecting people with land. Jackie trains land stewards and monitors landscapes around the world and lives in Ashland, OR. She currently manages the 2000 ac Deer Mountain Sanctuary in Montague, CA.
